Members of the newest Bulgarian temporary Select Committee fixed the dates for the amendments in the Bulgarian election legislation

On its first meeting the new temporary Select Committee which is occupied with the election legislation fixed the dates for passing the amendments in the Election of Bulgarian Representatives in the European Parliament Act together with the amendments in the Election of Representatives in the National Assembly Act.
The amendments in the Election of Bulgarian Representatives in the European Parliament Act must be passed and in force until 31st of March, 2009, and amendments in the Election of Representatives in the National Assembly Act shall be present until 15th of April, 2009.
By the present moment there are three bills for amendments of Election of Bulgarian Representatives in the European Parliament Act filled for voting and discussions in the Bulgarian National Assembly. A fourth bill is expected to be billed in. The main difference in it is that the preferential threshold for entering in the European Parliament will be removed. Now the electors has the right to choose one candidate from the ticket and he becomes elected if he receives more than 15% of the voting-papers for the respective party. Probably this percent will be decreased to 10%.
In regard to the national elections there are twelve offers from different parliamentary groups for alterations of the present act. Of the first moment are these, connected with changing of the election system - from proportional to majority representation.
